There are times in your life when you don’t want to work a full-time job but some extra cash would come in handy. Like in your teenage years, when you’re busy with study and friends and living your life to the maximum. Perhaps you’ve considered getting work as a secret shopper, reviewing stores for product quality and customer service. It would be excellent to get paid for going to shops you love and eating out – but can a teen become a secret shopper?

You bet they can! Lots of mystery shopping companies will hire anyone at all, as long as they are 18 years of age or older. You need to be over 18 because when you sign on with a mystery shopping provider you are not an employee of the company but an independent contractor. Also if you are under 21, you will not be able to take any assignments which would require you to purchase alcohol. As long as you fulfill those two conditions, there is no reason why you can not be a teenage mystery shopper.

In fact, not only can teens become mystery shoppers, but secret shopping providers like to hire them. Sometimes a store will specifically state what kind of person they want to undertake a job, so providers who hire mystery shoppers encourage all types of people to register. That way if a business that caters to a younger, hipper market specifically requests a teenage shopper, the mystery shopping company already has someone on their books who can do the work. And there are some great reasons to become a secret shopper. Many people in their late teens, especially college students, take up mystery shopping because of the freedom it provides and the extra money they can earn. Because you are able to pick which shops you want to go on, students can easily schedule work around their academic commitments.

Teenagers just like you can become secret shoppers, and it is a fantastic way to earn extra money while getting discounted or free goods and services!

It is great to know that there are other options to earn money like mystery shopping. It sounds like a great and fun way to earn some cash. The average teen seems to only be able to find a job at fast food resturants. The free goods and services are a great attraction too!

@Emily You can try with some companies who might allow minors. The thing is, with mystery shopping they might need you to buy stuff that isn't legally sold to those under 18, like alcohol. Also, you will have to go into an agreement that you will be an independent contractor, and not an employee. Don't worry, if ever we find something, we'll be sure to put it here!

Quote Of The Day

Most of us go through life as failures, because we are waiting for the “time to be right” to start doing something worthwhile. Do not wait. The time will never be “just right.” Start where you stand, and work with whatever tools you may have at your command, and better tools will be found as you go along. —  Napoleon Hill
