Since most of today’s teens are very keen on technology, it’s not surprising that a lot of us own gadgets from phones to computers to yep, you guess it – cameras. If you look at different social networking sites, a lot of teens today are very interested in photography, and a lot have taken to owning a DSLR camera to start taking photos of their surroundings.

If you are looking for ways on how to be profitable, why not earn money using your photography skills? Here are some suggestions:

1. You can start by applying in your school paper as the school photographer. That way you get more exposure and you get to practice your skills more.
2. You can also post your photos using social networking sites like Flickr, JPG and SmugMug. You can join groups and forums there that talk about photography and offer some tips on how to get better. They also hold contests and themes for a photography project. If your photo is good, there’s a great chance that you’ll be noticed in the community, and being more popular means increasing your chances for exposure.
3. Offer your services for taking portraits. You can even start by just taking photos for IDs or passports. You can invest in a plain white sheet that will serve as a background, a few lights, photo paper and a printer.
4. If you are more confident of your skills then you can move on to being a lifestyle photographer, and you can get clients like families or seniors for their prom, etc.
5. You can also just take photos of different things and sell them as stock photography to different websites.
6. You can also apprentice under more experienced photographers and have assist them during photoshoots in exchange for learning more.

If you, however, would like to develop more your skills on photography, join a photography course. The more knowledgeable you are on how to handle your camera, the more you can come up with great photos. Also, photography is not just about having the right equipment – it is also learning about light, shadows, positioning the body, and more, which are important factors in what makes a great picture.

Mastering the Art of Photography online means that you can learn on your own pace and at the comforts of your own home. If you are still shy but eager to be better at what you do, then taking an online photography course is a good way to achieve this because you are not pressured to compare yourself with other photographers.

Each photo course has graded photo projects for you to try, so you will feel like you are really attending school and would give you that sense of structure and discipline. If you want to earn money using your photography skills, you will really need to show your potential customers that you are good at what you do.
