If you have excellent people skills, are personable, and enjoy working in a retail atmosphere, then you might like to work at Walmart. If you do not mind being on your feet for long stretches of time and do not mind occasionally repetitive work, then this employer could be the one for you! Walmart is one of the leading retailers in the world, and they offer a variety of opportunities that other employers might not.

How old do you have to be to work at Walmart?

Walmart’s website states that a person must be at least 16 years old in order to work in their stores. If you are under eighteen years of age, then there will be restrictions on the amount of hours you can work during the week while you are in school. You will most likely be started out at minimum wage, but the more experience that you gather under your belt, the more opportunities you will have for advancement.

How do I apply to Walmart?

The process is actually fairly simple.

• Your first step is to find your nearest Walmart location. You can use the company’s online store locator to do this. You can apply here in person if you would like too.
• The second option you have is to visit Walmart’s career website. You will have the option to choose whether you want to pursue a career in retail, distribution, or in the corporate headquarters. A retail employee deals with customers on a daily basis. Jobs at corporate headquarters tend to deal with the office side of things, such as administrative, business, and marketing tasks. Because you are still a teen, you will most likely start out in an entry level position.
• Upon visiting the company’s website, you will also be able to put in a job application online.
• If you decide to apply online, you will be asked to register and fill out an online profile. You will then have to undergo a personality test. The personality test is a series of questions that act as a person’s first interview.
• Once in awhile, Walmart will hold hiring fairs. To inquire about one, simply call the Walmart branch that is closest to you and ask. If there is a hiring fair near you, then you can simply attend in person and secure an interview on the spot.
• Following Walmart on Twitter at @walmartnews or Facebook will allow you to stay abreast of the latest news and developments about Walmart.

Regardless of the application method that you use, if your application is chosen, you will be contacted by a Walmart representative. You will then be scheduled for an interview with someone in the store, generally a mid level manager. It is important that you make a great first impression so wear your best interview outfit.

During the interview, you will be asked about your personality, your work ethic, and any previous experience you might have had in your field of interest. You will also be asked about your core values and what you believe you can bring to the company. The manager will also ask questions about what department you are interested in working in. You should think about your answer to these questions before the interview.

If you pass the first interview, you will be called for a second interview with the general manager. If you pass this interview, then you will be hired. Congratulations!
