Previously we have discussed how to make your MySpace page cool by customizing it and making it your own. Now we want to share with you some tips on how to earn money by designing MySpace pages. We thought we’d encourage you to take a cue from teen millionaire Ashley Qualye, who first started getting rich by selling MySpace page designs and accepting customized design orders. Of course, we’d rather that you study and take care of your school responsibilities, too – so no quitting for now, alright?
Because a lot of people are using MySpace these days to connect with a bigger audience, we have seen a trend of not only normal individuals going to the web but also companies and business-minded people. If you have the flare for design, and you have got designing MySpace pages down pat, you can offer your services to the following kinds of people/groups/companies:
- Teens who can’t design themselves – you can offer to do layouts that are personalized and are designed especially for them. You can charge around $5 for something simple and increase the price to around $10-20 for something more complicated and more customized. The important thing is that you get to know them first, like their likes and dislikes and ask them specifically for what they would like to appear as the design on their page. You can start by knowing their favorite color as well as specific design elements like shapes (stars, hearts, skulls, etc.) and lines (stripes and dashes).
- Bands and Singers – because many of those who flock to MySpace are musicians, there are bound to be bands and singers who are either already successful or just breaking out. You can offer your design services to them and personalize their MySpace page according to their aesthetics, like putting their band logos and colors. If you are just starting out yourself, it’s pretty safe to charge around $25-35 for this and probably even higher if you become more experienced and if you design for bigger and more popular people. Also check out this MySpace music profile development course created by a musician for musicians – you might learn some new tips and tricks about what kind of design appeals to musicians and their fans out there.
- Companies and internet marketers – there are also companies who have turned to MySpace to connect with their market. They are always looking for someone younger like you because you know what your generation want and you think like them. Therefore you are in the better position to design MySpace layouts that will appeal to people whom they are looking forward to influencing. You can offer your design services to these companies but always remember not to let them take advantage of you. You can charge around the same as for bands, like $25-35, but some companies would prefer an hourly rate, instead of a fixed rate (one-time payment). To find out your hourly rate, ask around your neighborhood for the average freelance designer fee.
