Kids are always looking for ways to make money. It’s tough seeing things that you want to buy and not having the money to get it. It’s tougher still, when you ask your parents for the money and they tell you no. One way of overcoming this is making money on your own. But for kids making money is not always easy. This is why you need to get creative and start thinking of unique ways for kids making money. Speaking of creativity, one way for kids to make money is with a camera. That’s right. Kids can literally make hundreds of dollars per month just by taking simple pictures of their things and surroundings and then selling them to stock photo sites on the Internet. You may not think too much of the pictures you take, but the important thing is, someone else might and may be willing to pay you money for it.

Every day, thousands, perhaps millions, of people look on the Internet in search of photos that they can have for a reasonable price. All sorts of people look for photos on the Internet. Some of these include webmasters who look for pictures that they can use on their blogs or websites, and writers who need photos to include with their articles, books, manuscripts, or any other type of work. Included in this list also are web designers who are always on the hunt for photos to include in their designs. Other people who may be looking for photos are real estate agents, journalists, advertisers, and students. With this many people searching the Internet every day for photos, it presents a great opportunity for kids wanting to making money.
Because the need for photos is so great, hundreds of sites have sprung up all over the Internet that pay people for submitting photos to them. These sites are known as photo stock sites. Some stock photo sites will offer you a fixed commission while other sites will allow you to decide your own price. The stock photo sites that pay by commission pay anywhere from 50 cents to 80 cents per photo each time it is downloaded. So if your photo is downloaded 500 times per month, then you could earn anywhere from $250-$400 per month. However, for the photo websites that allow you to set your own price, you can charge as little as you want or as much as you think your photo might be worth. It’s up to you.
Many kids making money are already earning money by selling their amateur photos to stock photo sites and you can be one of them! To start selling photos online, you only need two basic things: a digital camera and Internet access so you can upload your pictures. If you don’t have a digital camera as yet and don’t have money to buy one, then the next time you know that your parents or a relative is going to buy you a gift, why not tell them you want a digital camera? Once you have your digital camera in hand, you can start making money by taking pictures of things. You can snap photos of cars, food, houses, flowers and scenery. However, when taking pictures for making money, it’s important to remember that the pictures that you submit must be your own original photos.
If you think that you are “smart” and you can copy other people’s images and call them your own, think again! Not only will you be breaking the terms of the site you submit the photos to, you could be brought up on criminal charges if you get caught. So don’t take any chances. Play fair and take your own pictures. Another guideline to follow when making money from taking pictures is you may not be allowed to take pictures of trademarks, brands, buildings that are copyrighted, company logos, government or military facilities or people who don’t want to be photographed.
Once you have a selection of photos, you will be ready to submit them online. Some sites that pay for the photos that you submit to them are Photographersdirect, StockandPrints, Crestock, Stockxpert, iStockphoto, Dreamstime, Shuttestock and Fotolia. These sites are highly popular and get hundreds of visitors per day. The way they work is you will need to sign up for an account which is usually free. Then, you can begin uploading your photos!
While visiting any of the above photo stock sites, take a look at the categories of photos that they have available. This will give you an idea about the kinds of photos that they accept. Then, you can begin expanding your photo collection to include pictures in the categories on the sites. Many of the photo stock sites issue payments to photographers via Paypal, Moneybrokers, Ikobo and other payment processors. It’s important to check out how each site pays before registering.
One of the best things about kids making money in this way, is that just one photo can earn you money repeatedly for years to come. So, if you’re looking for ways kids can make money, you have no excuse now. Kids making money by taking pictures and submitting online is not only fun but an easy way to make money.

I love this idea and of course, your site!
Unfortunately, I live in Vietnam and I’m only 14 so I have 2 big problems.
Most of the stock photo sites requires you to be at least 18. So what should I do about that? Thank you very much!
Hey T.Ng, the problem you mentioned is one that a lot of people run into. In the near future, we’ll try to put up an article about alternative sites that people outside of the US can qualify. In the meanwhile you seem to have good writing skills, so why not consider writing for our site and make a little money doing that?
Wow, thank you! I’ll try working more on my writing skills.
You know those online sites that let you take surveys and they pay you for it? Are those real ways to make money, or just scams?
Great idea, but you know those sites that let you take surveys and earn money? Can you really make money like that, or are they just scams? Thanks!
Jesse there are scams out there but there are a lot of legit ones too. We’ve reported on many of the legit ones in many articles on this site. You can check out some of them at this link: http://teenmoneymakingideas.com/?s=paid+survey&pwp=1
