
When you’re looking for ways to make money online it’s important to put safety first. It turns out that what your parents used to tell you about evil people in the world that are waiting to do do bad things to you is actually true. There are a lot of people out there who would like nothing more than cause harm to you. They will set up elaborate schemes to scam you, steal your identity, take your money and much, much more. So, if you’re searching for a job online or other ways to earn money, keep yourself safe. Don’t get too excited by the prospect of earning “big money” that you put yourself at risk. Here are some specific guidelines that you can follow to keep yourself safe online before getting involved with any persons or companies that promise to help you find a job or make “big money”:
1. Check company name in Been Paid
1. Check company’s name in Better Business Bureau
2. Check company’s name in Rip Off Report
3. Check company’s name in Scamdex
4. Check company’s name in Fraud
5. Go to Alexa search name and see if anyone rated the company.
6. Go to Register and go to whois. Put in name of company to find out who it is registered to.
7. Type in name of company followed by review in google.
8. Type in name of company followed by scam in google.
9. Type in name of company followed by complaints in google.
10. Type in name of company followed by in the news in google.
11. Value your social security number, don’t give it out to brand new companies.
13. Just because they don’t charge, be careful who you give your personal information out to.
12. Avoid paying for jobs.
14. Check the contact us form on websites and look for addresses, names and phone numbers.
15. Avoid companies that have free email extensions. Businesses should be able to afford their own domains.
16. No experience needed but claims to make thousands per month. STAY FAR AWAY.
17. If the job is local, call 411 to see if its listed or call.
18. Type in the name of the president or owner name in google.
19. If you are having second thoughts, go with your instinct. There are always more jobs to apply for.
20. Choose paper check over direct deposit unless company is well established.
21. Apply and inquire for work at home jobs at establish companies. Sometimes they hire but don’t advertise.
22. If job is posted in a forum by a new user, search their username in google to see what comes up.
23. If it sounds to good to be true, then most likely it is.
And last but not least, always keep your parents informed about your activities and whereabouts. Often, your parents are your best protection against scams and predators. They have valuable experience and can often spot a scam before you can. So, always ask their opinion keep them informed.
