Working at Target can be one of the most fun and challenging jobs that you can try! Target is a company that strives to bring each of its employees’ unique perspectives, experiences, and capabilities together to form an ideal corporation. How old do you have to be to work at Target?
You have to be at least sixteen to work at Target. However, the laws of the state that you live in will make the ultimate decision on how old you have to be. Just to be sure, you should research the minimum age to work in your state. If you are under the age of eighteen, there will be restrictions on how many hours a week you can work while you are still in school.
What Target looks for in an employee:
- People skills! Target’s clientele is widely varied in age, and you should be able to deal politely and effectively with people of all ages. Helpfulness, patience, and a pleasant demeanor are all required to be a model employee. You may also be called upon to assist a customer in looking for a particular item or make suggestions about which brand of product would best suit their needs.
- An eagerness to learn! Stores, such as Target, are fairly big, and it requires a lot of employees to effectively run a large store. Sometimes you may be required to assist a customer or fill in for another employee in a department that is not yours. Being willing to familiarize yourself with knowledge that may be outside of your initial job description can be beneficial to you and those around you.
- Math skills! Despite the department you are assigned to work in, the chances are, at some point, you will be called upon to man the cash register. You might also have to process orders or returns for customers.
- A cheerful attitude! This might seem like an obvious requirement, but it is important to be polite and respectful to customers at all times. This attitude should extend to your fellow coworkers too.
