Thinking about getting a job? If so, you might be wondering, what is the minimum wage in the United States? The minimum wage in the United States changes from time to time. so it’s always better to check with the Department of Labor: http://www.dol.gov,  for more accurate information than this article can provide. However, as of July 24, 2009, the minimum wage is $7.25 per hour.

For teens, federal laws requires a minimum wage of $4.25 per hour if you’re under 20 years of age during their first 90 consecutive calendar days that you work.

After 90 days of employment, or when you reach age 20 (whichever comes first), you must receive the minimum wage. Also, jobs such as babysitting are not subject to the minimum wage law.

According to the Department of Labor, certain full-time students, student learners, apprentices and workers with disabilities may be paid less than the minimum wage under special certificates from the Secretary of Labor.
